Soft, warm, and feels like a hug. I weigh 50kg, so the recommended blanket for me according to the internet, is 5kg (10% of my body weight). Despite this, I had wanted something really heavy so I went one up and ordered the 7kg. When it arrived, I tried it for about a minute or two and decided it was way too light. So I exchanged it for the 9kg, which I had wanted originally. When that one came, I thought it was perfect… but turns out sleeping ALL night with it makes it much heavier. So I was torn because I loved the weight for like 30mins while awake, but then it’d get too much all night while asleep. So I’d been hasty and gone too heavy.

I slept the next night with my normal unweighted blanket and felt happy relief. I decided weighted blankets aren’t actually for me, and I didn’t even want to exchange again for a lighter one. So I gave it to my mum, who is only 60kg or so, but absolutely loves it. She said for the first time I absolutely ages, she slept through the night without waking, and didn't get her usual hip pain on waking up. My mum has anxiety which weighted blankets are advertised to help with, whereas I don’t… so maybe it’s an item more suited for her.

TLDR: go lighter than you think, start with trusting the recommended “10% of your body weight”, and try it all night before deciding to keep or exchange for a different weight. Some people adore weighted blankets, but it’s not for everyone.
